The Host by Stephenie Meyer

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, didn't expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

As Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she's never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love.

Featuring one of the most unusual love triangles in literature,The Host is a riveting and unforgettable novel about the persistence of love and the essence of what it means to be human.

The Host is Stephenie Meyer’s first non-Twilight Saga publication. People judge and refuse to read it cause of Twilight, but guys i promise you they're nothing alike. The only similarity is, The Host too is a love story against the odds. Earth has been invaded by aliens who are known as souls. The souls are inserted into the human brain, taking the claim of the body and living as them. At the beginning of the book we meet Wanderer a soul who lived in 9 planets, as she is ‘inserted’ into the body of a woman named Melanie. The Seekers(Souls in human bodies whose job is to seek and capture all remaining humans) believe that by inserting such an experience Soul into Melanie’s mind, Wanderer will be able to extract information from Mel’s memories that the Seekers can use to find and capture the remaining native humans. As the book progresses we see that Mel doesn't disappear like she supposed to, so the two of them are living in the same body. The things are starting to get interesting when Wanderer starts to discover Mel's memories as we see she has a little brother, Jamie and her boyfriend, Jared who wants to protect. The story goes on as they go to find them.

The Host made me cry so hard. It was an emotional roller coaster. I was so invested with these characters, and one scene with Wanda and Jared in the end had me crying so hard (if you read the book you know what i'm talking about). You should definitely pick up this book! One of my favourites.
