Shifter Date: Must Love Lions by Alma Black **ARC Review**

Alexis Parrish is very single. Sassy and smart, she's great at her job as a journalist, but it's never given her the time to find the right man--specifically, a human. So when she gets assigned to interview Max, a lion shifter, about the new dating app he's created, she can't believe her intense attraction to him. After all, humans and shifters don't date.

Max is used to causing trouble. He broke tradition by creating the dating app, Shifter, which humans and shifters alike can use to answer the call of the wild.

When Max challenges Alexis to give him a chance, she can't say no. A human like her has no business with this handsome alpha lion, but she can't resist his magnetism. Their chemistry is primal, their connection positively animalistic. After all, once you go shifter, you never go back.

But when a rogue shifter group against interspecies dating targets Alexis, Max will stop at nothing to protect her. It's more than his pride on the line; it's his mate.

Warning: If sassy, sexy, and carnal reads aren't your thing, this book isn't for you. It contains lots of dirty sex, violence, and witty banter.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Love is dangerous. And wild. And spectacular."

Max is the leading alpha of the Pride and the maker of "Shifter Date", a dating app that matches humans with shifters. He is threading new waters with this move, since normally this isn't acceptable and even though humans know about their existance, they don't match with each other. But Max is thinking out of the box and wants to see if he can convince others as well.

There comes Alexis, a journalist that doesn't like or approve relationships between shifters and humans, but she has been ordered to take an interview by the maker of this new dating app and that's how she meets Max. The sexy shifter who challenges her to think otherwise, when she seems so against the wole idea.

"He didn't understand why no one else saw things the way he did. Love wanted what love wanted, and it didn't give a shit about gender, race or species. Lust was the same. He desired Alexis, and if Max was human, he'd be willing to be nothing would have stopped them from tearing each other's clothes off and going at it in his office. Right here. Right now."

I'm not really used in shifter romance to be honest, apart from vampires & werewolves, I definitely hadn't read about a lion shifter, so when I was approached to read and review this story at first I was a little hesitant, but I was also intrigued by the synopsis.

I loved the writing, the characters and the plot. Admittedly, I think there was a lot of potential and it could be explored furthermore, since there were many aspects that had me invested and I wanted to see more of them, like the Pride, his relationship with his parents, this new shifter who wanted him. I expected more 'drama' maybe or at least just a little bit more of everything. I know it was a small book and maybe that's why it felt that way, but I do believe there was plenty of potential that wasn't used sadly.

Still, I believe that this was a great work and it definitely didn't seem like a debut author writing this. If you like paranormal/ shifter romance stories, with lots of sexual tension and steamy scenes and also a great dosage of adventure, then this is a book you should give a chance to read. Congrats on your debut work, Alma! I'm looking forward to reading more by you!

PS: How awesome is the fact that Shifter Date is also a real site?? I had the quiz and my result was Dragon Shifters! Check it ou: https://www.shifterdate.com
