Sasha Hunter is a teenage girl, living in a dystopian London. Her mother disappeared on the 'Dystopia Day' , a day that brought chaos in the society with a strange blackout that led several people to insanity. Somehow Sasha's mother disappeared that day and ever since she's not really close to her secretive father. One day everything changes though. A young, handsome boy knocks on her door and delivers something for her dad. Curiosity gets the best of her and slowly she gets herself involved in her father's secrets. Secrets that lead to ghosts and other paranormal creatures..
There's a lot of action in this book, lots of mystery and suspense with a couple of horror elements. It was an intense, spooky thriller in some way that I thoroughly enjoyed! The story is captivating and the secondary characters are amazing! I loved Zara's attitude and Aaron's humor! I also enjoyed watching Sasha getting her character development, as she began as a clueless, secluded, weak and scared little girl to a strong, social, brave young girl.
‘Somewhere weakness is our strength and I’ll die searching for it.’
Dystopia is one of the arcs I used to have for a while now and I scold myself for having it aside for so long. I honestly loved this and I would recommend it to everyone who loves paranormal, YA & mystery/action stories. I don't think I have read a male author [not in my recent reading fest anyway], but I loved Anthony Ergo's writing. Even though it doesn't end with a cliffhanger it makes you want to jump in the sequel, leaving you a bittersweet taste after you've finished this story. Or at least, I felt like that.
The only reason I don't give it a clear 5 was that I'm not fond of disgusting scenes and a few scenes were a bit too much for my taste. But this is strictly a personal issue, maybe because I didn't expect that. If you don't have a problem with that, you should jump in immediately! And I know this isn't a romance kind of story, but I couldn't help but make my personal casting ^_^
